E-Science Server at LANL is an electronic product created to promote scientific communication and collaboration. It manages content and delivers electronic journals, conference papers, and standards through a standard web browser interface.

E-Science Server has three components—the electronic content, the content management software, and the value added by integrating content in a single package.

The electronic content provided by E-Science Server currently includes

  • journals: scientific and technical journals distributed by Academic Press, ACS, Elsevier Science, IEE, IEEE, Institute of Physics, Kluwer, Springer and Wiley.
  • conferences from IEEE/IEE
  • standards from IEEE.

The E-Science Server user can make use of this content through

  • browsing - for example scanning the Table of Contents of a journal issue or conference proceedings
  • searching (simple, advanced and expert modes)
  • re-executing saved searches
  • setting up alerts for automatic notification of new journal issues or new topical content
  • setting up personal preferences.

It runs on a locally modified version of the software provided by Science Server LLC.

Future plans include the addition of more journals and older backfiles of journals.

Access to E-Science Server at LANL is limited to staff of LANL and other subscribing institutions. Institutions interested in subscribing should see the library Electronic Products page for more information.

Please send comments and suggestions to eteam@lanl.gov.
